General Manager, Hospitality for Tsuut’ina Nation

Kevin Yates was born in Calgary Alberta, and grew up in neighborhood of Lake Bonavista.  His career began early in residential real estate when he was 18 years old, he was the youngest Real Estate agent in Red Deer Alberta at the time. After going back to school for Sales & Marketing at SAIT, Kevin decided to get directly involved in the Hospitality Industry.

Kevin’s experience in the hospitality industry includes 12 years with Will Inn’s Limited/Deerfoot Inn & Casino. He has entertained a variety of roles from Food and Beverage Manager, Sales and Marketing Director, Catering Director, Director of Operations for properties in central Alberta. Kevin expanded his career over the next 6 years with brand hotels working at the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis, Fairmont Hotel MacDonald and opened the Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort. In his first Hotel General Manager position, Kevin spent 3 years with Service Plus Inns & Suites Calgary, his next job was to open the Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, as the Hotel General Manager, and spent 7 years in this role. Kevin was then promoted by the Tsuut’ina Nation (Grey Eagle Resort & Casino) to General Manager of Hospitality for Tsuut’ina Nation, which includes the Grey Eagle Resort (Hotel & Event Centre) and helps support the "New” 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre.

Kevin is the Vice President/Board Member of the SKAL Calgary Club, and a member of the Calgary West Rotary Club. He has also participated as a Big Brother with Big Brother & Sisters Calgary for many years. 

He is excited to bring his own unique perspective to the Calgary Hotel Association Board!

He has 3 young children, two daughters (Ayla & Brooklyn) and a son (Connor) who is the youngest.
